We jammed hard for about 5 or 6 hours, stopping only for the occassional cigarette, and it didn't even get hot. It kept up with my drummer who, bless his heart, suffers from a terminal case of
"cant shhh". Member when I said I set everything @5? I member. I had everything at 7 to start. Everybody whined about how loud it was. Pansies.
I took it back home and set it up on the front porch and had a party in my yard using only this. I hooked my phone up to it with a stereo cable and turned both channels up to 6.
It didn't even clip, but it blew us away! So I cranked it to see where it clips with my phone (galaxy s10, no special playing device or external volume controls between phone and Headrush). It clipped at about 8.5, but thats fine because my wife came yelling at me from across my 2 acre front yard about how loud it was and i didn't hear her until it was too late. That was user error, I don't blame the equipment. My kids wanted to listen to Purple Hat Cheetah Prints. So we did. The bass response was heavy. Really good. We listened to some of their house and rap and part songs, we jammed some Stick Figure, then they finally let me and my son listen to Pink Floyd and Led Zeppelin. Oh, Lort! Shine on you Crazy Diamond was so clear! The mix was great! BTW - I have other pro audio equipment, and for comparison, right now my EV ELX112P is $599 on Amazon. The HeadRush cost half that and blows the ELX 112P out of the water! (This is an expression, I do not recommend using this product in or around water.)
One of these and a powered 18 is highly impressive! Probably all you'd need for a small gig or a big yard party!
Long story short, my wife approves of this purchase👍
That being said, I'll be buying another to use my eleven rack in stereo.
Aw, who am I kidding, I just want to have a spare 😍
And maybe get the 8 as a personal monitor because the vocals are really tight and clear through this. Headrush might have messed around and gon' make me replace all my active 12s with these.
Don't worry, if anything messes up or breaks on it, if it displeases me in any way, this glowing review will reflect it. I'll tell you what I did to f### it up. Because it was likely monumental. This thing is tought. It built really solid. Like they thought metal heads would be standing on it, or putting their foot on it to look cool for the party kids. It held my fat but up when I threw my ham hock on it and started shredding. Didn't even rock back much. Really sturdy in the monitor position, which has been a constant issue with our EVs, our Peaveys and our Behringer active 12s - they keep wanting to roll forward or backwards. You have to lean them against something or use chok blocks. The Headrush just sat there like a bump on a log. Solid. Heavier than the EVs, but lighter than the Peaveys, and better sounding than any of them.
Update: I still love it. Cuts right through the mix!

I started out using a pod hd500x as my amp sim through this unit, it wasn't terrible but it really lacked the feeling of being a real amp... not even close to a tube. Back then I blamed the headrush.
Switched to the hotone ampero, sounds are insanely better, turned the headrush from a speaker into a true amp. IR's have a huge impact on how this thing feels, even if you have a crappy amp sim I suggest getting an IR loader (they have some for cheap).
Also was able to use this bad boy as a bass amp, and a keyboard amp, it holds up well for both.
My only complaints are the plastic its made of is soft, so lots of scratches, however they don't do any real damage to the unit... wish they had a rubber case (like iphone case) for it.
As well as the lack of having a preamp in the unit makes it almost useless for DI vocals. This would be the icing on the cake, but you already get an amazing product rest assured.
My set up. Clean simple. Kemper rack, Furman M-8x2, Headrush FrFr.
Initial thoughts are: It's loud and clear. It has sufficient bottom end and crisp highs with a mid-range that seems to cut. There is a contour select on the rear of the the Headrush, I have selected the mid range option. The unit gets very loud, as loud as a 4x12 cab with no issue. It does have a shallow hiss when the volume is above 5 or 6, but nothing that is any worse than your typical high gain amp, in fact it would be
un-noticeable in a live situation.
Other thoughts : The bass seems to be very prominent in the Headrush, I adjusted to taste through the Kemper. I figure more bottom is better than no bottom due to the fact that it can be EQ'd out. The highs are piercing, again I EQ'd at the Kemper to taste, but it has lots of headroom for your preference in tone.
I will be using this live. Lugging a 6505+, 2-4x12's, and a monster pedal board is just not desirable any longer. This unit will allow for a simple setup. It is light weight, loud and clear.
For the $300 I spent on it, so far it can't be beat!
Update 11/8/2018
Used this with a full band recently.
I was able to keep up with a full band with ease. We play Death Metal / Death Core and this FRFR kept up with out breaking a sweat. Bass is deep, highs are crisp, mids cut through. Again, I'm using a Kemper rack so I have total control over my sound. The ease of use with this unit is incredible. I can carry guitar {Kiesel Vader backpack} , board, and HardRush in one trip, then I can grab the Kemper and rack on the 2nd trip and be setup in minutes.
Does this unit sound as Flat as others 3x the price, no. But it's not $2k like the others. Wll it get you the volume, setup, simplicity and clarity you need, Yes! Without breaking the bank!
Although I discovered that I needed to put it up on a speaker stand. If you leave it on the floor, the low frequencies are overwhelming.
